OMG amazing. Those black studded heals… <3
I used to visit my relatives in baghdad growing up. the large streets were full with book sellers, all kinds of books. we used to go during the summer when we didn’t have school to stay over relatives places. I used to spend hours upon hours browsing books and reading, sometimes buying and sometimes not. nothing beats old baghdad.
The changes the changes the changes. I haven’t been writing much lately because I really wanted to experience puberty without writing down every little piece. Too caught in the details, and not enough of the general puberty splendor. I want to experience the hormonal changes as if it were cis-puberty (meaning puberty for a person who identifies/relates with their anatomical body of birth and doesnt constantly think about being a different gender).
As she sits
Who will look
Who will see
Who will hear.
Tribute to Zimba
Zimba is always certain
When and where she walks.
As the outdoor breeze
Settles in lungs
Mickalene Thomas is an artist with a complex vision for her work. Putting her focus on footwear, she teamed up with Brothers Vellies and their unique style of shoes to create five pieces of very limited and wearable art.
The chukka-like footwear is based on a Nambia-produced African shoe called Veldskoen. They are constructed of vegetable -dyed Kudu leather and are all handmade. The five different styles they produced couldn’t be different from each other. Characteristics include random colors with unexpected patters, feathers, pony hair and more. They are pretty wild, but fit right in with today’s footwear scene.
The super-limited line will only contain 25 pairs of each style and will be on display at Brothers Vellies through February 24th.
